Do you think General Motors should change its name to "Government Motors"?

I can%26#039;t wait to see what all the bark-eating liberals have in store for that company. Organic tire treads, anyone? How about solar powered windows with iPod ports in the back of every seat, or flower beds installed in the doors so you can grow your own in your car. I hope the new Escalade comes in tye-dye color patterns. Of course, Ludacris will get his ride pimped by MTV to include gun ports, and a special hiding space in back for his latest beaten b*tch.|||All three US automakers should be called, %26quot;Gass guzzlers that every red-blooded American wants to drive%26quot;|||They%26#039;ll mandate the manufacture of expensive PC clown cars that no one will buy.|||I am a pro ranter, and let me tell you, bud. This is one hell of a rant. It has nothing to do with the title, its just angry, cynical, and rapid fire. I give it a two thumbs up. I like to think of myself of the kvetchingest crotchety old bastard on yahoo but you may have me beat. Keep givin%26#039; em hell and I%26#039;ll keep ranting, as long as the foam from my mouth doesn%26#039;t short circuit the keyboard.|||lol good ideas here u go another proposal Gigolo Motors. Sound good? hee hee.|||Sure. Big Brother taking over more and more chunks of the business world every day would suit Obama just fine.

2000 MAXIMA driver power window doesnt work.?

Where can i buy %26amp; How do i change the motor. Any place where I can find manual to open the door %26amp; install the motor|||Yout might want to buy a haynes repair manual for your maxima. ITs made specifically for your car so that should tell you how to remove the panel and replace the motor. You can buy the manual and order a replacement motor at almost any car part store, or look at ebay or amazon.com

How to change Mazda MX5 1.8IS door mirror? (N reg) 1996?

Door mirror is loose %26amp; need to tighten 10mm fixing bolt. I have removed door panel and felt inside but the retaining nut is between a door skin, so my question is do you need to remove window motor, mechanism %26amp; glass to gain access to 10mm fixing bolt??

Anyone who has changed one would be great to hear from you many thanks...|||You need to pop the plastic housing that covers the door and where the mirror attaches to the door. Once you pop the cover, you will see the bolt heads to tighten the mirror.

Power window problem/ power window wiring cost?

2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI 4dr sedan rear drivers side window.......... Ok now that that%26#039;s out of the way, my rear window won%26#039;t go up, it comes down but won%26#039;t go back up. I%26#039;ve changed the drivers switch, rear switch, window motor and window regulator and nothing works, so through the process of elimination I assume it has to be wiring. That is something that I can%26#039;t fix so I was wondering how much is it to have a power window re-wired|||If you can replace the switch and the motor, you CAN repair the wiring. If you don%26#039;t already have a repair manual for your car, pick one up for around $20 at any auto parts store. Check the wiring diagrams near the back to identify the color of the wire to the motor from the %26#039;up%26#039; side of the switch. That is the wire your need to repair. Straight up replacement is probably cheaper and easier than actually locating the break in this case.|||The problem is usually right in the hinge area of the door. Look for broken wires. Or, wiggle the wires while you try the door switch. If you find the broken wire, don%26#039;t try to splice it in the hinge area--it will break again right away. Run a new wire and splice it inside the door and inside the kick panel.|||If you can鈥檛 find the right Windows drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

Changing electric car window to manual?

we have an 91 dodge that we are giving our son. But the the electric windows do not work. After checking into it, there is a lot more than just the motor that%26#039;s wrong its the wiring to the motor. the mechanic said it would be cheaper to change to manual. And of course, my husband and son wants to do this them selves. While my husband is out of town I thought I would ask exactly how difficult is it, to do this?|||I would be easier to find the same model and swap out the complete door. Even if the color doesn%26#039;t make, the two doors will match each other inside and out.

The hard part with that is hanging the doors and that%26#039;s a two man job, and a lot of cussing.|||Find a 91 Dodge (same model) in a local salvage yard and get the manual regulators and simply swap them out.

How to replace a rear passenger electric window mechanism on a 1997 Mitsubishi Shogun LWB

Already taken the door card off, undone the screws/bolts that hold the mechanism in place, but the window is still attached. Is there more srews holding the window to the mechanism (reason for changing is that the motor has died)|||Just remove the motor %26amp; replace that if you can get to it.|||From what I can remember you need to look at the bottom of the window, you will see that there is a metal slide with two plastic rollers. These rollers are attached to the window mechagnism by ball joints, you need to put a long flat head screw driver between the roller and the metal mechagnism. Twist the screw driver and the ball joint should pop out, they can be a little tight so you may need to use a lot of force to get them out.

Once you have the ball joint split you will need to lift th window up as high as you can and then try to remove the window mechagnism with the motor out on of the holes in the inside of the door.

My pug sounds like a stuka dive bomber?

m reg 306 xldt, was pouring coolant down the street from the bottom of the radiator. on the 10 minute drive to the garage it sounded like a stuka dive bomber - a real head turner, everybody watched as i chugged by. The noise stopped before i got to the garage when the fan stopped - the car didnt overheat. The garage changed the rad, but now say the fan doesnt work. How much are fans? would i need to change/buy a whole assembly or can you get bits like temperature sensors and fan motors. Changing the rad has probably cost more than this car is worth, so I dont want to spend much more. coincidentally, does 拢240 seem reasonable to replace a passenger side window and change the radiator?

thanks pug knowers.|||I reckon you should go to your nearest salvage yard and buy the parts and fit them yourself, 拢240 is a hell of a lot for the jobs you need doing, garages are a rip off, and you need to watch them like a hawk. I%26#039;m in the fortunate position of being a mechanic, so a job like this is a baby p1ss to me, and I could do it for a tenth of what your garage is charging, but largely due to the fact that garages have an high labour rate, usually 拢40 an hour, 拢70 if its a main dealer, work it out for yourself!|||it sounded like a Stuka Dive Bomber? your car didn%26#039;t the Gull wing design and have a Borncshe Engine with fixed undercarrage air-whistles, two Wildau cannons and a rear facing OP90 machine-gun did it?

Electric window on my ford focus is not working i managed to remove the motor housing (great difficulty)?

How difficult is it to change the power window regulator in a BMW 3 series? ?

I have a 2003 BMW 325i, and the driver door power window is messing up. From what I%26#039;ve read, I%26#039;m assuming that it%26#039;s the regulator rather than the motor as the window will still go up and down. However, it sticks about halfway up, then it%26#039;ll slowly creep up after I hit the button again.

I%26#039;ve priced the regulators at about $100 at Autozone, and I%26#039;m wondering how difficult it is to %26quot;DIY%26quot; if I don%26#039;t want to spend the $200-$300 to have a mechanic change it.

Also, is there an easy way to know if it is actually the regulator and not the motor or a combination of both that is causing this problem?

Thanks!

Oh, FYI, I have very little experience with doing my own maintenance. I%26#039;ve replaced a few parts like oil pumps and starters on older American made cars in the past, but I am definitely not a pro.|||Replacing a window regulator is one of those precious few jobs that I will not do for any amount of money.

It can be a royal pain in the butt. It is annoying as all heck, painful at times, and in general, very frustrating on many cars if you don%26#039;t have a good set of tools, and even if you do have a good set of tools at times.

The process is quite simple. Anyone could do it, really, if it was all out on a table...

But that ain%26#039;t where it is.

Now be careful with the mechanic on that BMW, and be careful which regulators you get. Make sure to price them at the dealer as well, as they might not be that much more. If that door panel isn%26#039;t carefully removed, and the weather seal not put back in properly, you can have problems.

If you try to slap some substandard universal fit regulator that just happens to say it fits your BMW in there, it will be nothing but problems. It%26#039;s hard enough to get a good one working right.

Check the dealer before you do it, then price it elsewhere.

I don%26#039;t do it for a job, but I am a trained mechanic. I%26#039;ve done my own work on every car I%26#039;ve ever owned, and trained to make sure I could do it all right. I%26#039;m not by any means an expert, but let%26#039;s just say I%26#039;ve turned wrenches around the world, even helping prep rally vehicles in exotic locations.

And I don%26#039;t bother with window regulators.

On some cars, they are enough to drive you flat out nuts. Hey, that BMW may well be easy. I can%26#039;t tell you. I have only done a few, and I didn%26#039;t like it one bit.

Changing EGR and window motors in a 1994 t-bird 4.6L?

I was wondering how easy or difficult it is to replace these items. My car keeps getting a P1407 code which I believe is no signal from EGR. We replaced the sensor but that didn%26#039;t help.|||The p1407 is not from the EGR but the ports in the intake that allow the flow of EGR gasses from the valve to the intake is blocked up.. FOrd has a TSB to remedy the situation... It%26#039;s not a begineer DIYer job ( A regular shade tree will have fun as the throttle body and it%26#039;s tube that leads to the lower intake has to be removed to get at the ports that are blocked.)

Windows motor, without looking at the car I can%26#039;t remember as I haven%26#039;t done one in about 5 years and I forgot how it looks.|||According to the %26quot;book%26quot; it will take about a half an hour for the egr valve and 1.3 hours for the window motor. As a rule of thumb i generally double it for myself. But neither are that difficult. good luck|||Usually the egr valve is not the fault. Its either the dpfe sensor, or the egr ports are blocked up with carbon.

Changing the window motor, hardest thing is to remove the door panel. You may have to drill holes to get to the window motor screws once the door panel is off

I have a 96 blazer,The window motor went out?

The library didn%26#039;t have any books about window motors how do i get to it to change it|||You need to remove the screws that hold the panel on, then go around the edges with a regular screwdriver and gently pry the panel off.|||same thing happened on my %26#039;01. Dealer wanted $400. So I sold it! (Wanted something new, anyway.)|||All you have to do is remove the cover panel on the side of the door and it should be inside the door.|||Take my word for it... changing these motors is not fun. Behind the door panel is a couple of holes that you can get your hands in to get to the motor. The metal edges are sharp and the holes are small. I would take it to a dealer or a body shop and let them do it. Call around and get estimates.

It%26#039;s not as easy to R %26amp; R as one might think but if you are up for a challenge... Go for it. I%26#039;m not saying you can%26#039;t do it... I%26#039;m saying it won%26#039;t be fun. If there is something that caused the motor to give out, you would do well to rep[air that at the same time or the motor will fail again. Good Luck.|||Remove the trim pad on that door. Remocal of hardware such as handles may req a special tool. Before removal of motor make sure to install a bolt on the 2 arms of the regulator. This is to prevent them from swinging around and taking off your FINGERS! Before you do all this check switch and wires to make sure this is the problem!!!!The shop manual for this vehicle will show what to do as well. Be carefull!!|||if possible get the window in the fully up position. Take off door panel. Hold window up some way. I usually use duct tape stuck to the glass and over the door. The window regulator is spring loaded so you have to be careful or you can loose a finger or worse when you remove the window motor bolts. There should be a hole in the regulator that you can put a bolt through to hold the spring tension while you remove the motor. I think there are just 3 bolts or rivets that hold it onto the regulator.|||Make sure it%26#039;s not just the switch, or a loose wire first.|||Take this car to an auto electric repair shop in your area.....do not go to a dealer, they will rip you off blind for this repair.......sky high labor and parts prices......the door panel of course will have to come off and a new motor put in....some auto electrics may have a rebuilt motor with a guarantee.....had one replaced on my daughers Grand Am GT for about $150 installed with labor at an auto electric, Pontiac Dealer wanted $475 for this repair!!!!!

How do i get to the window track on a 1993 buick Century?

My girlfriend has an old %26#039;93 century and the back passenger side window loose, when the window is in the down position it swings back and forth, I started to get the door panel off but i saw that there is a second sheet of metal over where the window motor is, is there a way to tighten the window track or am I going to have to change something out? The window still goes up and down so i know its not the motor or the regulator, wat else could it be?|||Guess they can be tightened some use 10mm bolts other are riveted.

How to fix window cable on 98 regal?

I already changed the motor and the window (on front passenger door) still doesn%26#039;t go up. But one of the wires seems shredded. Any ideas on how to fix this? will i need a kit or just another wire? The window is also sitting right, nothing wrong there and all the other windows work fine too. On this one it goes down but not up. When i use the passenger switch or even the drivers switch i can%26#039;t roll it up and i can%26#039;t unlock the passenger door either. I have to use the remote to unlock it. Is it possible that they are both affected by the same wire?|||chase the wires from the switch they usually have a plug under the dash unplug it and see if the parts department at your local Buick dealership carries that part of the wiring harness if not try to find one in a junkyard.

98 Dodge Intrepid, changing the drivers side electric window motor. And how to remove the door panels? THANKS?

The window has finally stopped going down so I am ***/u/ming that I need a replacement motor. Uncertain how to change it, where on the door is it (upper or lower, etc) and how do I remove the door panels to get at it?

By chance, does the drivers side rear seat window motor match with the front seat motor so i could swap them out? No longer married, and the kids have their own cars so why do I need a rear window to go down eh?

Thanks evereyone.

Mike|||Unfortunately, those two motors are usually not identical. Not to say it wouldnt work its more of a question of how much modification it would take to swap them. You may need to make a bracket to put the mounting holes where they need to be if you are set on doing this. Your best bet would be to look for a used one with a warranty or even better a new one. factors to consider are does your left rear window go all the way down as your left front probably does? Are they the same size? If not then your motor might not allow your window to go all the way down or worse, roll all the way up.You can consider all of these questions before you even attempt to remove the door panel. The window regulator is usually located in the center of the door to provide the best balance for the glass and lifting capability. The door should be secured by either screws or more likely plastic fasteners which are removed by a panel removing tool or a screwdriver to pry the panel from the door if its not a show vehicle and you dont mind possibly damaging your vehicle. These are usually a one time use fastener and will not hold as well the second time or anytime the door panel is removed after that. Make sure you check the door for screws behind plastic trim pieces. Its not a hard job and can be even easier with a haynes or chilton manual. Dont forget that after the bottom has been detached the lip is usually lifted over the window and wires connecting to the window switches and door locks will limit how far the panel can go until everything is disconnected. I hope this helps even though it is a general answer. Good Luck and remember that there are few satisfactions greater then for a job you%26#039;ve done yourself.|||All of the replacement motors are the same except for the drive gears that make the window go up and down.

To remove the door panel I use a stiff (STIFF) putty knife to get the %26#039;rivets%26#039; to pop out. You need to be as close to the rivet as possible. Not doing so might break the rivet (usually nylon or plastic) or pull it loose from the panel itself.

I%26#039;d look at the fuses or the power button first. These parts fail more than the motor does.

If the motor does need to be replaced there are metal pop rivets that hold it to the door. You%26#039;ll need to drill these out and replace them with new pop rivets. A pop rivet kit isn%26#039;t too expensive at auto parts stores.

They might even have the exact tool to remove the door panel.

Does anyone know how to cahnge a power window motor on a 2002 Chevy Cavalier?

I have bought the power window motor %26amp; was given a brief %26amp; unhelpful overview of how to change the motor but i could still use a step by step or at least a little something of what I am doing. See I have the panel off %26amp; I can cut off the snapbolts that are holding the motor on but what do I do from there. The motor set in an awkward position so that there is no view of the area that I will be working. As well I have no clue how to set the window to the new motor either. Any small amount of info or even a diagram would be very helpful. Thanks|||KIND OF HARD TO DESCRIBE IN A ONE SIDED CONVERSION . WHEN TALKING TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW IF THEY ARE GETTING IT OR NOT . WHAT YOU CALL SNAP BOLTS ARE 1/4%26quot; POP RIVETS IF YOU HAVEN%26#039;T REMOVED THEM USE A SMALL PIN PUNCH TO DRIVE THE RIVET MANDREL BACK IN SIDE IT SELF , THEN USE A DRILL MOTOR WITH A 1/4 %26quot; BIT TO DRILL OUT THE RIVETS HAVE SOME ONE HOLD THE WINDOW UP AT THE TOP OF IT%26#039;S TRACK WHILE YOU DRILL THEM OUT . DON%26#039;T LET THE WINDOW FALL AS IT COULD BREAK .SLIDE THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL OUT OF THE TRACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS , NOTE THE POSITION OF THE MOTOR AS YOU WILL BE PUTTING THE NEW MOTOR BACK IN THE SAME WAY .HAVE 1/4%26quot; X 20 -1/2%26quot; LONG BOLTS , NUTS , LOCK WASHERS ALL READY TO PUT IN THE HOLES THE POP RIVETS CAME OUT OF . AS YOU PUT THE MOTOR IN THE DOOR LINE UP THE ADJUST WHEEL INTO THE TRACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW THEN INSTALL THE BOLTS AND TIGHTEN UP , AND TEST OUT . HOPE YOU UNDER STAND WHAT I LAID OUT HERE . ONCE YOU GET INTO IT THAT DEEP IT BECOMES EASY TO SEE HOW IT GOES TOGETHER .|||Sounds good so far; just when you take the old one out put the new one in its place, with the same wires.

How to change a car window?

I am trying to change the window on my 97 chevy blazer

i got the window in but I can not get the electric motor arm to go on the track on the window|||ok with out seeing the truck this is hard.are you saying thescrews, nuts,or whatever type retainer it has does not line up?In that case first try using the switch to roll the window trac up and down to manipulate things into place,if this dosen%26#039;t work you may be missing a piece or have the wrong year part.or are you saying there is a channel the glass slides into and it won%26#039;t go in? in this case try a little grease|||buy a new car|||try installing the window from the outer side of the door.. you have to remove the door panel and lower the arm all the way down, you may be able to get in on track from there...

How do I remove rivets? Will I break my window if I put them on to tight? How much does the tool cost to rent?

I am trying to change my passenger side window motor. 2003 Chevy Cav. LS.|||just use a drill and a bit that is sligthly larger than the rivet pin. since rivets are made of aluminium, it shold be easy to drill them out, and the install pin will brake off before too much pressure is put on the new glass.|||you can put with it like a small clothe that you don%26#039;t need when you do that so you can%26#039;t face any damage|||You have to drill the old rivets out. You can buy a rivet gun and rivets for about $20. If you don%26#039;t want to use rivets you can use machine screws with nuts and lock washers. No you will not break the window by over-tightening you want them as tight as possible.|||The rivets are aluminum with a steel center.First the center must be removed by striking it with a small sharp punch. Then the remaining portion can be removed with an oversize drill. As stated by someone else, the rivets can often be replaced with short bolts and a nut.Torque the nut down moderately then apply some type of glue to the exposed threads to keep the nut from working loose.|||you need to drill the old rivets out. to install the new rivets, it takes a large rivet gun, they run close to 200 dollars, you cannot set the rivets for the motor with the small gun. the window motor generates a lot of torque to open and close the window, the small rivets will not hold. best bet, take the car to your local body shop with the trim panel off and have them install the rivets for you. cost maybe 40 dollars or so.|||drill the rivets out with a drill and use bolts and nuts when replacing.

How do i change the motor for my power windows on a 93 ford thunderbird?

it has never been done before. i hear something about having to %26quot;knock%26quot; the rivets off before this can be done. step by step instructions would be helpful. i have the door panel off already|||If all you are going to change is just the electric motor you don%26#039;t have to work nearly that hard. Since you have the panel off have someone hold the glass up or tape it in place. Look at the metal where the motoris mounted and you will see there are three dimples. Drill the dimples at least with a 1/2%26quot; bit and you will find the screws in ther that hold the motor to the regulator. Again, this is only if the electric motor is bad and the regulator is ok.|||yes ,i own a repair shop, and you have to drill the heads off the factory rivets to get the original one off,and once this is done you can remove it,,its better to take the glass out ,,so its not in the way it gives you more room to work,,then you can just wiggle it out of there,,the new one goes back in the same way,and you can buy those rivets,,or use small short bolts to put it in with,,either one works fine,,other than that ,this isn%26#039;t too bad of a job,,take your time with it,,and don%26#039;t get in a hurry,,and you,ll do fine,,good luck hope this help,s.,,PS auto zone or advance can order you this part, and have it over night.,,or go to www.autopartswarehouse.com..they will have it,,but it take s few days to get it from the,.

Does anyone know how to change out the front driver side window motor in a four door 03 chevy cavalier ???

How to change an electric car window into a manual car window?

would like to change the window in my %26#039;97 sunfire to manual because it is missing the motor but i do not know the steps can anyone help|||You can do it BUT..even used parts are going to be a lot..you%26#039;ll need all the tracks from the manual door, plus the window regulator, the door panel (or cut a hole in the one you have) Can you not find a motor in a scrap yard or off a parts car? Changing out one window to another is an awful lot of work and doing just the motor is far easier.|||You will need to replace the door panel with a manual one.|||But a car with manual windows|||There is a lot of work involved. But if you are adamant that you want to change it from electric to manual, it would be easier getting doors from a breakers yard, then swap them, the only thing is you might not get the same colour doors.

Electric motors are only held in with 3 or 4 bolts and they run in a runner underneath the glass. When you fit the new one put it in the runner first, then plug in the wires and see if you can line up the bolt holes, if they are not lined up press either the up or down button on the switch until the holes are lined up then put the bolts in. Job done

I am changing the motor for my window in a 97 deville how to i get my door panel off and how can i do this?

i haven%26#039;t taken my door off or anything but i need to change this motor any tips will help|||we had to do this on our escort...you pop the panel off feel around the bottom for anything that may be holding it on...make sure you grab the glass or at least have it up enough you can get a hold of it..the only tool we used was a flat head screw driver|||Only remove the inside panel, do not remove the door from the car.

The window crank will have a retainer clip, pop that off.

There should be screws that hold the armrest/window controls, unscrew them.

The panel will have upholstery clips holding the panel to the door. Pull gently around the outer edge of the panel and they should come out one by one.

I hope this helps.

How do I know if I need to change a regulator or motor in my window?

I have a 97 firebird with very low miles, but the windows continually stop working. They have gotten to where the will only roll down a tiny bit and once they do they take for ever to get back up. Like they have to build energy to do it. I assume that would be the motor, I replaced a motor (with another used one) and it soon died too. Why is it doing this?|||The switch could be shorting the motor

How hard is it to change a ford focus electric window motor 2000 model thanks?

very hard if you dont know what u are doing,,,

if u are determined to do it yourself then u need to strip out the interior panelling as prev reply,,,

but when u order a new motor be aware that they are Handed the drivers side,front/rear are totally different to the passenger side front and rear, make sure u order the right one or get it done at a garage(then of course it comes with a warranty)|||get the ford guys do IT FOR U thats why u get warenty|||I can%26#039;t remember exactly, I had to change my damaged door with a second hand one and transfer all the gubbings in the door over.

I did it myself, it took my about two hours to do the whole job.

Some advice I will give you is, keep all the screws you remove in a container. When your remove the interior door panel, carefully cut the foam panel away, it rips very easily. Try not to disturb the door locking mechanism. Be careful with the plastic clips that hold the glass in place, they break easily, as I found out.

If your confident with a set of screwdrivers and a spanner it will be an easy job!

Good Luck

How do i change the driver side window motor of a 97 chevy camaro z28?

I took off my door panel and for an hour attempted to take the window motor out and didnt even budge one screw. is there a web site or manual that i can get that shows how to do this?...I was really trying to save money and not bring it to a dealer.|||no dont take it to a dealer take it to a auto shop and probably save alot of $$

some motors can be very tricky, if you plan on doing it yourself please get a manual, in most cars the trick is you have to set the spring and if you dont when you un bolt the motor the spring will pop and it could literally break your wrist, im being very serious. i would recommend taking it in, good luck|||http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/57鈥?/a>|||Best to get a repair manual like Chilton or Haynes from a parts store and it will show the procedure to remove the motor...just did one on my brother%26#039;s 96 Z28--took a couple hours with help.

With the door trim off and window secured in the up position, find the 4 rivets that hold the regulator on the door panel---towards the front of the door, in the middle. They are 1/4 inch rivets and you%26#039;ll need to drill out one area of the rivet head and then peel off the rest of the rivet with a wire cutter type pliers or nipper...at least that%26#039;s how I did it. After that, punch the rest of the rivet through the door panel and it should let the regulator loose. Remove the rear glass guide track and the lower guide track after scribing the bolt locations to re-install correctly---the rear track has special bolts with a allen wrench opening in the head for in and out adjustment---use an allen wrench to keep the head from turning when you remove the nut so as to not alter the adjustment. The regulator should come out the back opening of the door and the upper rollers should slide out of the back of the track on the lower part of the glass. As stated before, be VERY careful when disassembling the motor from the regulator---there is an awful lot of spring tension on it and if not secured will amputate your fingers quite easily. When you remove the regulator/motor assembly, try to reattach it to the wire harness and operate it so that the regulator arm is in the middle position---there is a hole in the arm and a larger hole in the bracket that should line up and I just put a socket wrench handle in there to keep the arm from springing open when I took off the motor but I also had my brother hold the arm with his foot to make sure it didn%26#039;t spring around. You could take it to a shop that%26#039;s done this and let someone who know%26#039;s what they%26#039;re doing do the part of swapping the motor.

Otherwise, you drill out the 4 rivets that hold the motor to the regulator very carefully and once the motor is off, clean out any old rivet pieces, re-install the new motor--making sure the center shaft of the drive gear lines up with the hole in the bracket, reattach with screws supplied with the new motor or steel rivets and reinstall assembly in reverse order. You%26#039;ll need some 1/4 by 1/2 inch bolts to reinstall the regulator to the door---make sure to use lock washers or locknuts on them and check the operation of the new motor/regulator before you install it. Grease the guide channels with lithium grease and reinstall water barrier, speaker, wiring and trim.

How to change a power window motor on a 2005 Chevy Caviler?

Before you start tearing apart the entire door, it may just be a ground problem. The window motor/mechanism is riveted to the inside panel. Many times the panel is either first painted or primed. When the mechanism is installed the only ground may through a crack in the paint.

First Place a jump wire to a good grounding surface(bare metal)maybe by the steering column. Place the other end of the wire directly on the window mechanism. Switch on the power %26amp; try the window. If this solves the problem then remove the rivets by either grinding or drilling. How to change the power window motor for 1997 Chevy Astro?

Do i need special tools|||There are special tools to make the job easier but you can do it without, it%26#039;ll just take a little more cursing.

Remove the inner door liner, look all around for screws along the bottom, look up at an angle around the arm rest, there will be 1 big screw there. Once all the screws are off, start prying off this liner, feeling for where the pressure plugs are, pry off with 2 screw drivers on either side of each plug so it doesn%26#039;t tear the liner. Remove the plastic, don%26#039;t worry about the glue you can put it back with tape. You will need to remove two nuts that hold the window scissor to the bottom rail of the window. Next support the window so it doesn%26#039;t fall, use a screwdriver from one of the top holes. You will now need to drill out the factory rivets that hold the motor %26amp; scissor assembly. Replace with 1/4%26quot; bolt and nuts. If you are replacing because the old one doesn%26#039;t work, try opening the old one first, you may find thermal cut off strips are failing. How can i take the door panel off my 2004 audi a4 to change the window motor?

I would not avoid messing with it and take it to the Audi garage. My dad had a Rover before and the window motor sort of stopped working. I think on some cars the are screws on the trim (The part on the inside where the door handle, window switch, etc is), undo them and you are presented inside the door, then change the motor. The cover should come off. Don%26#039;t come telling me or sewing me if this all goes wrong as this is a %26#039;Do at your own risk type thing%26#039;. But my dad did this, went and got new parts, attached them, and there you go, it worked. REMEMBER, I AM NOT TO BLAME FOR YOUR MISTAKES!!! Get it assesed and done at an Audi Garage. By all means try this at your own risk but all I am saying is, if it doesn%26#039;t work, don%26#039;t blame me.

^^^Door trim ^^^ (Credits to holder of image)|||The trick to removing most car door panels is to make sure you%26#039;ve found all the little screws holding it on. Usually there are screws at the inside door pull, the release latch, the window/ mirror control panel (although sometimes this just pulls out, but you might have to push it a certain way to unclip it). Often there will be little blanking covers to hide the screws, you need to prise them out with a small screwdriver or similar.

Once you%26#039;ve got everything undone, the panel should pull off, but do it gently as the clips which hold the panel onto the door can break, although they%26#039;e not dear to replace.

If you%26#039;re not sure, take it to a garage, as it%26#039;s too easy to damage the door panel if you get it wrong, and I suspect a replacement will be a bit on the dear side!

How do you change the window motor on the driver's door of a 1994 Dodge Intrepid?

Very specific instructions are better; any help is appreciated. Especially need to know how to remove the door trim panel. Thank you!|||Step zero: close the window and tape it in the %26quot;up%26quot; position. Dropping the window into the door is not fun.

Step one is buy the motor. I did not see a regulator kit available for your car so hopefully the window is in good condition and on the track.

Step two is to take the trim off. Basically find all the screws and gently motivate the door trim off the driver side door. If it comes up but otherwise won%26#039;t fall off the door, you%26#039;ve got to disconnect the wires running to the door controls.

Step three is to locate the motor. Remove the bolts holding the motor in (see sources and click on MORE INFO for a pic). Gently rock out the old motor taking care to note the orientation and where the sprocket (the %26quot;gear%26quot; on the motor) plugs into the elevator (the thing which lifts the window).

Installation is the reverse of removal.|||type into search box
