hi all just want some feedback really as im opting to keep mine
what do yall think of the fiesta mk3 (mainly the xr2i 16v)
is it worth keeping ive spent quite a bit on it already and its still not right
i need a new gearbox and clutch ..need a new cambelt and tensioner change
new bushes all round/new rear axle/beam/ new brakes all round
new fuel tank and sender. new front electric window motors
new spray job (full).. 拢400 worth of welding to be back to normal state.
desperatly need a new cd player..new carpet
new gearbox mounts .new lower arms.new wiper washer motor and bottle. new header tank...new alloys as mine are too wide
tbh i know that sounds alot but i just love the car and are willing to keep the old classic hatch alive
the engine runs like a dream but the bad thing is the car has clocked up 200 thousand miles ..
i know people might just say ohh why are you bothering might as well scrap it ect..
any1 know how much this will cost to get parts and repair on the cheap ?

You're right - it ain't worth the bother, very poorly built %26amp; rust prone car with dreadful handling, virtually lethal in the wrong hands;

You'll spend forever, it'll still be a heap - get a 205GTi or Civic CRX of the same era for a decent car.
If you want to keep it, you need to be doing as much as you can yourself to keep costs down - the gearbox should be around 拢50 from a breaker, you should use a new clutch kit at around 拢100, cambelt kit would be 拢70 for parts, suspension bushes around 拢100. Suspension beam from a breaker, but most will now be rotten - again 拢50.
New discs, drums, pads %26amp; shoes about 拢200.
Fuel tank should be new only, about 拢100, sender about 拢40.
Window motors 拢100 a pair for new.
A good full respray could be anywhere between 拢500 %26amp; 拢1,000.
CD player -拢peanuts, plenty on Ebay.
Carppet set, probably Ebay again, around 拢50.
Gearbox mounts 拢30 - 拢100 in parts, lower arms 拢60 the pair.
Wiper motor 拢40. Washer motor 拢10, bottle scrap or Ebay 拢5.
Header tank, same again around 拢5, plenty of alloys %26amp; tyres on Ebay, but you may struggle if you want decent originals - 拢100 to 拢400.
That's a lot of money in parts alone, and it never was %26amp; never will be a 'classic'. Regardless of the emotional attachment, you could spend 拢4,000 on this %26amp; still end up with a piece of crap, albeit a very good condition piece of crap!
