Sooo my car really sucks!!?

i have a 96 grand am. its powered wondows and locks. well only 1 window works.. it will go up and down perfectly fine [front passenger] but the driver window [witch hasnt worked since i bought it] will go down an inch but wont budge to go up. neither will the back windows. when i 1st got the car we tried changing the motors in the driver window and that wasnt the issue. its also not a fuse... what do you think the prob is? wiring? does anyone know how much its going to cost to get fixed at a shop? thank you

sounds like you tried everything but the switch my dear. switchs are easy to replace and anyone can do it. switchs are a common problem on the grand am's. try that if that doesn't do it then you have some other issues such as binding windows which may have come off the track.

It's not the motor you say?

I would suggest checking the rail that it's on. If there is a problem there it might explain why it might get stuck after going down or something.

Pricing depends on your local shops. You have to ask them.

Well this is a very easy fix... It not the motor its the window regulator. There should be a coiling box in which the excess wire is stored when rolling up or down the window. The metal wires after years and years of use bind up on each other and get stuck. You cant fix the wires because in most cases they are too far gone. Just go on ebay and type in window regulator 1996 grand am. This should solve the problem. You could easily replace it yourself.
